There are
options platers have for copper plating. One option has
the best copper adhesion and highest copper purity, and the other
option plates copper much faster. Our chosen option is a
copper plating process that provides the best copper adhesion
and highest purity copper plating for our customer’s parts.
Copper
Plating is often specified as a coating on steel parts. We
have had copper thickness specifications from customers
ranging from .00005” to .001”. In plating .001” is
extremely thick.
The .001”
copper plating thickness was needed by a customer to braze
two parts together. Technical Plating’s copper plating,
being a very pure copper coating, eliminated a high brazing
reject rate at our customer’s facility. The customer’s
prior high braze reject rate was caused by a competitor’s
copper plating where the copper wasn’t pure enough.
Copper
plating will tarnish in a short time without protection. We
offer an excellent tarnish remedy if you so desire. Our
tarnish resist overcoat has proven to prevent copper tarnish
for well over a year based on samples we kept for
evaluation.
